Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in the Vancouver Area Next Weekend

sunday showcaseBy now you’ve probably gotten into the swing of the new school year. So it’s time to get out there are have some fun on the weekends. Here are some ideas for the upcoming weekend.

Did you know that there’s such a thing as Talk like a Pirate Day? Well now you can celebrate it next weekend at Pirates at the Cannery! Head over to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Richmond for a scavenger hunt through the 55,000 square foot historic building and a chance to win a chocolate-filled treasure chest.

test 020aFor some good, old-fashioned fall fun, head over to the Olde Harvest Fair at Stewart Farm in Surrey. There’s so many things to do at the fair, such as tour the orchard and gardens, take part in games like potato sack races and crafts for kids. There will also be live music, a farmers market and even a guided tour of the farmhouse. Remember to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the South Surrey Food Bank.

Stewart-farm-apple-dayThe Fraser Valley Food Truck Festival is certainly a great way to spend a day. There will be 20 food trucks on hand serving everything from barbeque, Italian, Thai and so much more. Live music, mini golf, and kids crafts are just some of the activities. And the best part – kids get in for free!

truckGo to Shipbuilders Square to participate in the Bicycle Treasure Hunt. Hop on your bike and answer clues along the way. There will also be a variety of silly tasks to complete at checkpoints along the way. Head back to the Square to collect prizes. The event in limited to the first 50 groups who sign up and it’s free to enter.
