Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in the Vancouver Area – Vancouver Family Photographer
School’s out for summer! Now, what to do with the kids? Well, there are a ton of fun activities throughout the Vancouver area this summer perfect for families. Here are some great ideas to check out next weekend.
Take the kids to see a show. There are a few playing around the area right now. Les Miserables is at the Stanley Alliance Industrial Stage though mid-August. The Lion King is playing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre through next week and you can catch Godspell at the Granville Island Stage through August 1.
On Saturday, head over to Stewart Farm in Surrey for the annual Pioneer Fair. There will be re-enactment groups bringing historic stories to life, old-fashioned races and carnival games, face painting, and lots of treats to eat. Guests are encouraged to come dressed as pioneers and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds.
Also on Saturday, the 2nd Annual Butterfly Release takes place at Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery in Langley. Hundreds of beautiful monarch butterflies will be released into the sky. There will also be entertainment by Trevor Murray. For a $20 donation, guests will be able to release their very own butterfly.
Sunday’s Spice Road Market in Delta celebrates the varied cultures that make up its community. This year’s theme is India and there will be many special events including an art show, dance demos, Mehndi artists, a kids zone, craft vendors and farm store. In addition there will be a restaurant competition with participants asked to create a signature dish that the public can then sample and vote for their favorite. The event takes place at the Earthwise Society Garden.
