Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in the Vancouver Area Next Weekend | Vancouver Family Photographer

sunday showcase

Happy New Year! It’s 2015 and the holiday rush is officially over. Although you probably want to relax a bit, here are some fun activities around the Vancouver area to check out next weekend.

In the Mood for a Melody, Orpheum Theatre

Get a little culture by taking in a performance of The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Pops series. Pops conductor Jonathan Tessero and the VSO will present a swingin’ concert featuring arrangements of the greatest soul music with selections including songs from Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Neil Diamond, and more. Give the kids a musical lesson they’ll really enjoy.

Story Time and Crafts at Lougheed Town Centre

Head over to the Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby for a free, family-friendly story time and craft event on Saturday.  The story time is presented by Hannah & Cat and starts at 10:30am with crafts immediately following. Parents don’t worry, there will also be free coffee to tide you over!

The Fire and Ice Show at Whistler

Whistler Village’s Fire and Ice Show is not to be missed. This legendary (and free!)  show takes place each Sunday at the base of the mountains in Whistler Village. Amazing entertainment includes ski and snowboarding displays, fire spinners, DJ’s and fireworks – it promises exciting fun for the whole family.

Free Water Polo for Kids, Burnaby Water Polo Club

If your kids are interested in learning about water polo, or just want to try something a little bit different, check out the free water polo event at the Burnaby Water Polo Club. Every Saturday in January, kids from 6-13 can try their hand at this fun sport. No prior experience is necessary!

No prior Water Polo experience necessary (we will supply the coaches and the fun, you supply the kids)

Water Polo is a great way to expand and strengthen aquatic skills and the Burnaby Water Polo Club does so in a safe, fun environment that motivates kids to develop life skills in and out of the water.

Come try this awesome team sport for free!
