Wednesday’s Style – Easy and Light Makeup for Summer Photo Shoots | Vancouver Family Photographer

wednesdays styleSummer is the time when you want to look as natural and “easy-breezy” as possible. And that should definitely include your makeup. This is not the time for heavy, saturated colors or layers of products. So if you’re getting ready to take some family photos this summer, here are some makeup options you may want to consider in order to keep that fresh and fun look.

This is the time to play around with and change-up your routine. A sun-kissed, dewy look can go a long way to make you look rested and refreshed. Use a primer, which is lighter in feel than foundation and really helps the makeup set. A bronzer swept on the places where the sun naturally hits (such as nose, cheekbones and chin) really helps bring out the golden warm tones of your skin.

Stick with light, sheer colors. This is not the time for heavy, matte makeup. Sheer lip gloss with a hint of color or sheen, translucent blushes and a shimmery eye shadow are all perfect compliments to the summer sun (and heat).

Finally, make sure whatever you wear is waterproof. Even if you’re not going to be near the water, all of that posing and smiling in the bright sun can make your makeup melt (and who wants to see that!). Squinting in the sun can also cause some tears, so waterproof mascara and eyeliner is a must.
