Wednesday Style – For the Boys – Family Photographer Vancouver
When talking about fashion and style for a family photo shoot, the guys don’t seem to get as much attention as the girls. But style for the men and boys is just as important! So, as not to overlook them anymore, I present a guy’s guide to photo shoot fashion.
Look coordinated but not too “matchy – matchy”
It’s important for the whole family to have a cohesive look, but you don’t want to look like you’re wearing uniforms. A good tactic is to have the ladies outfits guide the guys choices. For example, if mom is wearing a colorful floral dress, dad might wear a shirt that picks up one of the colors in her dress. A young boy can wear a bow-tie or even sneakers in the same color as his sister’s skirt.
Accessorize
Perhaps you’re a fan of the color green. Use small pops of your favorite color to accessorize your outfit. A pair of socks, tie or belt can help breathe life into your photos. Boys can play around with fun hats, sneakers and suspenders. Just make sure it’s a burst of color and not a head to toe look.
Don’t forget grooming
Maybe this goes without saying but your hair should be neatly trimmed and brushed and facial hair should either be neat or non-existent. Use styling gel or pomade to enhance your hairstyle and give it a bit of a funky vibe. But remember, don’t do anything too drastic – you want your photos to reflect who you are, not a part you’re trying to play.
Know your style
Are you more comfortable in jeans and sneakers or do you like to dress a bit more formal? Remember to dress like yourself – you’ll be the most comfortable and natural, and that will shine through in your photos. And have fun with it – you’re making memories that will last a lifetime!
