Sunday’s Showcase – What to do – Vancouver Family Photographer
I’m sure by now you’re starting to think – what are we going to do with the kids all summer? Here are just a few events that can help fill up your summertime calendar and ensure no one is bored for too long.
Rock of Ages
Relive your youth and take the kids to see Rock of Ages playing at the Granville Island Stage. Practically every 80’s rock song you can think of is in this fun, zany musical that will have you dancing in the aisles (much to the embarrassment of the kids!) The show plays through July 30th, so you can see it more than once!
Picasso: The Artist and His Muses
Teens and tweens interested in art will appreciate Picasso: The Artist and His Muses, opening at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This is the most significant exhibition of the artist’s works ever presented in Vancouver. Here you’ll see the role of the six women that were most important to Picasso’s artistic development. Painting, drawings, prints, sculptures and more will be on display. This is surely one exhibit not to be missed.
Darts Hill Garden
Visit the enchanting Darts Hill Gardens as they open for the season. Guests are invited to take a causal stroll through the beautiful and colorful landscape while staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide garden maps and information. Enjoy the garden’s Open House every Saturday from 11am-3pm and don’t forget to visit the plant sale to help create your own beautiful garden at home.
ArtStarts on Saturdays
On July 30th, ArtStarts Gallery presents A Rainbow of Colours with Carolyn Sullivan. This fun workshop will allow participants to create designs using a variety of objects. Kids can bring home their print and leave a copy behind to create a beautiful community rainbow. The ArtStart program takes places one Saturday per month. The program is free and there is no pre-registration required – just show up, have fun and learn a little something new!
