As we head into the month of August, there is still plenty of summer fun left to be had. Here are just a few family-friendly events to check out before the kids head back to school in September.

Head over to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park to visit with a wide variety of amazing birds including Red-Tailed Hawks, Lanner Falcons and Great Horned Owls. The park itself it a sight to see, complete with a 450 food span. Walk the Cliffwalk, check out the rainforest canopy and take a guided tour. There’s even a free shuttle service from downtown Vancouver which leaves every 10-15 minutes each day.

If your kids are fans of anime, take them to see AniRevo. Anime Revolution is an annual convention, this year being held at the Vancouver Convention Centre. For three days, guests can celebrate all the best in anime and Japanese culture with exhibits, panel discussions, performances and more. There will be art, comics, contests, dance, gaming and cultural displays. It’s a great way for fans of anime to come together or for those with a new interest in the art form to learn more.

The 144th Annual Chilliwack Fair

Next weekend marks the 144th edition of the Chilliwack Fair. Celebrating local culture and heritage, it embodies all the things that make Chilliwack a fantastic place to live or visit. The fair will include agricultural exhibits and shows, a kids zone with live entertainment and so much more.

Animals in the Plaza

For one day, McBurney Plaza will transform into a sea of animals with Animals in the Plaza. The Urban Safari Rescue Society will showcase a number of its exotic animals and share their knowledge of the animals and their habitats. There will be plenty of hands-on fun including dog training presentations, pony rides and more.
