Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in Vancouver – Vancouver Family Photographer

sunday showcase

Almost hard to believe that January is almost over and next weekend is the last of the first month of the year. Make it count by checking out some of these fun, family-friendly activities and events around town.

Hickory Dickory Dock Pantomime

Kids of all ages (adults included!) will enjoy the SMP Hickory Dickory Dock Pantomime at St. Martins Hall. All of the beloved characters you know will be there including Little Miss Muffet, Humpty Dumpty, Mother Hubbard and Prince Charming. The wacky cast of characters brings to life a story based on the classics, told with a modern twist.

ArtStarts at River Market: Printmaking Workshop

Head over to the River Market at the Westminster Quay to check out a cool printmaking workshop as part of the Art Starts program. Julie McIntyre has designed the event for families to use basic equipment and materials found around the house to create professional prints. There are sessions starting at 11am and 1pm on Sunday, January 31st. The best part – it’s fun and free!

Hastings Park Winter Market

Also on Sunday, the Hastings Park Winter Market is open for business. It’s central location near the Second Narrows Bridge makes it an easy to get to location to stop, relax and shop.  There’s a great selection of items including local produce, artisan foods, local crafts and hot food trucks. In addition, kids can play on the playground or check out the skateboarding park as well as the Italian garden and trout pond.

Family Day at the Smith Gallery

Every Saturday, families can visit the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art. Kids are encouraged to explore the exhibits, use the interactive “Discovery” tables and learn all about the amazing art in the galleries. It’s a great way to give the kids an introduction into the world of Canadian art.
