Next weekend is already mid-April if you can believe it! So there’s a ton of things to do in the area to get you and your family outside and having fun.
Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival
Definitely make some time to visit the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. Events will be taking place all month long throughout the city. April 12 and 13 feature walks through Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park where visitors will discover the history and beauty that nature holds within each green space. Take advantage of viewing the beautiful and fleeting cherry blossoms before they’re gone.
Wondrous Tales of Old Japan
Get some culture into your life and head over to the Carousel Theatre for Young People to see the Wondrous Tales of Old Japan. Four Japanese legends are brought to life for children in the style of Kabuki theatre. Stories include Momotaro: The Peach Boy, Urashimataro: The Enchanted Fiserhman, Yuki Onna: The Snow Woman and Hanasaka Jiji: The Old Man that made the Trees Bloom.
Celebrate Spring 2014
The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre is presenting a family-friendly spring festival to celebrate cherry blossom season. There will be performances, craft workshops, a tea ceremony, kimono dress-up, food and more. Registration is required for some of the events. While you’re there, enjoy a picnic lunch in the beautiful gardens.
The Brick Games
Check out the Brick Games, in Abbotsford, Canada’s largest charity Lego building event. There will be entertainment and vendors for the whole family along with stage shows and activities. Kids will have the chance to compete with their own Lego creations to win a variety of prizes.
