Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in the Vancouver Area Next Weekend – Vancouver Family Photographer
Hope you’re having a fun-filled February so far. If you’re in need of some family-friendly activities to check out, here are some that fit the bill. Enjoy!
Vancouver Heritage Week
Celebrate everything you love about Vancouver during the Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s 2015 Heritage Week. This year’s theme is “Main Street: At the Heart of the Community.” There will be a series of events celebrating the theme including walking tours and a backstage pass to the Commodore Ballroom. Learn a bit of history while enjoying time in your city.
Winterruption 2015
Head to Granville Island to celebrate the 10th annual Winterruption Festival, a colorful array of art, dance and music. There will be live music as well as the unveiling of Giants – the largest outdoor mural ever created. Children will surely enjoy the Kids Zone where they can do crafts, watch a demonstration of high-flying acrobats and even become a part of the carnival procession through the streets.
Celebrate Chinese New Year
The Aberdeen Centre will host a weekend of activities and events celebrating Chinese New Year. To commemorate the Year of the Sheep, there will be cultural celebrations, performances and a host of family-friendly activities. Events include performances by the BC Chiense Orchestra and Youth Orchestra, the Vancouver Academy of Dance, Zhong Yang Music & Arts Academy and much more.
Vancouver’s Chinese New Year Parade
If you can’t get enough of the celebration, head to Chinatown on Sunday to catch the Chinese New Year Parade. The parade begins at 11am at the Chinatown Millenium Gate. It’s a great way to introduce kids to a new culture and become part of the celebration.
