Sunday’s Showcase – What to do in the Vancouver Area Next Weekend
The holidays are truly in full-effect now! Celebrate by getting out there and finding some fun activities to do with your family. There’s something for everyone!
It’s Christmastime at the Lonsdale Quay Market. Through Christmas Eve, the market will have special activities, live seasonal music, kids crafts and visits from Santa Claus. Families can purchase Christmas trees as well as gifts for everyone on their lists!
Ever wanted to pretend you were an Olympic ice skater? Perfect your moves at the Robson Square Ice Rink. From now through February the rink will be open and skating is free (barring skate rentals). After your routine, warm up and fuel up with snacks and beverages at the concession stand.
The Vancouver Aquarium is getting into the holiday spirit. Scuba Claus will be on hand, swimming with many of his aquatic friends. There will also be special events such as crafts and story time. A holiday tree will be powered by electric eels and visitors can take a special ride on the 4-D adventure, Polar Express.
On Sunday, celebrate the 11th annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade. There will be marching bands, floats and dance troupes. There will also be many pre-parade activities starting at 10:30am including gingerbread decorating, face-painting, letters to Santa and special performances. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
