Sunday’s Showcase – Homemade Ice Pops | Vancouver Family Photographer
There’s still plenty of time to enjoy the summer season. One of the best parts of summer is all of the readily-available fresh fruit. So instead of buying packaged ice pops in the frozen section of your grocery store, why not try some of these combinations to create your own, healthy pops at home. Everyone in the family is sure to enjoy!
First pick up an ice pop tray. There are so many quality ones on the market these days that you have plenty of options. Some of the more popular ones out there are from Zoku and Tovolo. Play around with flavor combination you like best but some of the more popular pops include strawberry, watermelon, pineapple and mango. It’s easy to puree and strain your favorite fruits and then you’re ready to get creative and make some pops!
Try adding different liquids to your purees such as coconut water or milk or almond milk. For an adult treat, add some champagne or sparkling wine to berry puree for a truly decadent pop. If you have trouble getting your kids to eat their vegetables, add some veggie puree to your favorite fruit pops (they’ll never know!) Some of the best veggies to use that won’t be detected are spinach and carrots.
There really are so many ways to make refreshing pops right at home – you’re really only limited by your imagination. Play around and enjoy!!
