Who doesn’t want to take a fantastic vacation this summer? But sometimes life makes it hard to get away on a large-scale trip. So why not take a few day trips instead? You’ll get to visit more places and experience different things, all relatively close to home. Here are some places to check out this summer.
Harrison Hot Springs
Just 90 minutes outside of Vancouver are the Harrison Hot Springs on Harrison Lake. It’s a beautiful getaway complete with beaches, mountains and of course, natural springs. There are so many activities to do such as kayaking, parasailing and windsurfing. Of course, you can also just sit back and relax on the lake or the hot springs pool.
Another amazing day trip is to Whistler. This internationally-acclaimed ski resort also has a lot to offer in the summer months. Whistler Resort is a city unto itself complete with restaurants, shops, museums and more. Take a family bike ride, try your hand at canoeing or hike the high alpine trails – there’s truly something for everyone in Whistler.
Victoria
A beautiful and historic locale, Victoria makes for a peaceful and serene day trip spot. The downtown area featuring shopping, sights, gardens and historic buildings. Be sure to visit Butchart Gardens with its 55 acres of amazing floral displays. Then be sure to relax with a cup of tea at the legendary Empress Hotel.
Bowen Island
Bowen Island is an escape from Vancouver without having to travel too far. The relatively small island offers a host of activities for visitors. From swimming and kayaking to hiking and mountain biking, there’s something for every adverturous spirit. For those that want a more relaxing day, Bowen Island offers plenty of dining and shopping options including hand-made and fair-trade items in Village Square, Artisan Square and the Marina on the Pier.
