Yesterday was spent working through this families session and I couldn’t resist posting a few quick teasers. I just love my job… it’s truly a pleasure to meet and spend time with so many wonderful people. Sessions are always a blast – especially this one. We walked through a park, and then went down to the beach for sunset. Loved it! Here’s just a few while I edit. More to come.

Sunday Showcase | Wall Art | Vancouver Family Photographer

It’s Sunday… and Mother’s Day. Happy, happy day to all the wonderful mom’s out there. I am so thankful for my own mom, and am so proud to be a mother myself. It’s nice to have a special day to recognize and celebrate motherhood.

Today also means it’s time for another dose of Sunday Showcase! This week I wanted to share some great wall art ideas. There are so many ways to display child and family portraits in your home. My personal favourite is gallery wrapped canvas as it’s gorgeous and comes ready to hang, but there are many fun options to showcasing pictures of all sizes and quality for everyone to enjoy. Here’s a few pics to get the creative juices flowing!

This is a great example of mixing different sizes and still keeping the “square” frame. The options are endless here, and it makes it easy to use vertical and horizontal images. Frames also make it easy to swap out photos and change it up now and then.

Friday with Gwenneth | Vancouver Child Photographer

Friday’s are one of the days of the week that Gwenneth and I are typically free of all obligations – we try and keep it that way so we’re free to do as we like. It doesn’t always happen, but a couple times a month the day becomes and “Gwenneth and Mom” day, and we spend time together doing as much or little as we like. Posting photos of Gwenneth on my blog is something I’ve done for a while, but I’ve decided to turn them into a regular weekly feature and they’ll now always show up on Friday, the day of our weekly mom and daughter day. Hope you follow along… she’s growing up so fast.

If I’ve learned one thing as a photographer, it’s that pictures taken (even by a professional), rarely get displayed and enjoyed properly. We’re all guilty of it – taking an endless supply of images with the many digital cameras available to us (I think I have like 5 different camera aps on my Iphone alone), and not giving them the exposure they deserve. Photos are memories, and I love looking back at photos I’ve taken as early as yesterday, and remembering the reason I snapped the picture and the emotion I felt in that moment. That’s where my newest weekly blog feature – Sunday Showcase – is going to help. I’m going to share some of the many ways you can display your beautiful images for your family and others to enjoy. Stay tuned… there’s lots to come on Sundays. First up… beautifully printed albums (a product I’m in love with).

I’m excited to launch a new weekly feature on my blog – Wednesday’s Style. If you’re already a client of mine, you’ll know that what you wear is an important part of a child or family portrait session – as you and yours are the main focal point and we want everyone looking and feeling their best. Clothing can either flatter or distract from what we’re trying to focus on and that’s why it’s so important to plan your clothing choices. Before each of my sessions, I send a list of styling suggestions, a where to shop list, and also send them over to Pinterest to check out my inspiration boards. In addition – we’ll now have Wednesday’s Style. A new weekly feature on my blog that will showcase fun style that families can incorporate into their own photo session. We’re just kicking things off, and I thought I’d share a few “what to wear” guides that are provided to me through the Chic Critique Forum and iadorestyle.com. Enjoy – and see you next week.

Savvy Workshop Continued | Vancouver Family Photos, Spring Family Photos

I’ve been slow finishing up the edit of all of the fun I had at the Savvy Workshop in Alys Beach Florida in February. It was nice to take a much needed break in March and spend some time with my family. Now it’s back to work and the season is filling up quickly.
